By 1925, Victor and Columbia had discovered how to harness microphones to record music, a massive jump forward from the acoustic recording techniques used to date. This allowed for a better sound with a wider, more dynamic range, that began to mimic being in a theatre.

This week Yulia and Boneapart discuss this change and play an example of the vastly superior sound that this new “Orthophonic” sound allows.
