Breaking Away: Why Blind Skeleton and Skeleton Brew Are Leaving Traditional Social Media
At Blind Skeleton and Skeleton Brew, we have always stood for creativity, independence, and a respect for history and culture. But as we look around at the state of traditional social media and mass media, we find that many of these platforms and institutions no longer align with our values. So, we’re making a change.
The Decline of Traditional Social Media
Social media was once a place to connect, share ideas, and build communities. Now, it’s a battleground of corporate greed, disinformation, and compromised values. The decisions made by the major players—Elon Musk’s destruction of Twitter/X, Meta’s removal of DEI initiatives and moderation, and Google’s willingness to let its AI be used in weapon development—do not align with who we are or what we stand for.
Blind Skeleton is about preserving and celebrating the past while embracing a future built on ethical principles. We cannot, in good conscience, continue to support platforms that betray the very idea of a free and fair creative space.
Traditional Media: More Editorial Than News
It’s not just social media. The landscape of traditional mass media has shifted as well. More often than not, mainstream news outlets lean into bias, preferring editorialized content over objective reporting. The lines between fact and opinion are blurred, and the public is left to sift through agendas rather than truth.
While we are small, we believe in the power of independent thought. That’s why we are breaking away from these systems and creating a space that aligns with our principles.
Where You Can Find Us Now
We are taking our community to platforms that embrace open dialogue and decentralized communication. Blind Skeleton and Skeleton Brew will now be active on Mastodon, Bluesky, and the DESO blockchain. These platforms allow for genuine connection without the interference of corporate overreach and algorithmic manipulation.

Supporting Real Journalism
We still believe in the importance of well-researched, ethical journalism. That’s why, for the first quarter of 2025, we will be donating $1 from every bag of Skeleton Brew coffee sold to The Guardian, one of the few remaining traditional news organizations that upholds journalistic integrity. By supporting The Guardian, we’re putting our money where our values are.
Join Us
We are not simply leaving—we are building something better. We invite you to join us on our new platforms, where real conversations can happen, and where our shared love of vintage culture, history, and independent media can thrive.
The future of social media doesn’t belong to billionaires who see it as a playground for their own interests. It belongs to communities that value integrity, creativity, and truth.
We’ll see you on the other side.
