Lightpainting photography is a form of long-exposure photography that is performed in the dark. A combination of a tight aperture, long exposure, and using a lightsource – such as a flashlight – as a “paintbrush.”

Photography is all about light. Careful manipulation of the lightsource in a controlled dark environment leads to remarkably bright and full coloured subjects which are further emphasized by the dark black background.

Though many photographers create lightpainted pieces in the outdoors, my personal favourite subjects to lightpaint are toys in a studio.
